Fret Level, Crown, & Polish

Micro-level fret leveling, recrowning, polishing, and fingerboard rolling to give a smooth, well-used playing experience.

  • Over time, regular playing wears deep grooves or flat spots into your guitar's metal frets, causing dead notes, fret buzz, and stiff string bending. A Level, Crown, and Polish restores a perfectly flat plane across the neck. I precision-grind the high spots down to the micro-millimeter, round (crown) the tops back into perfect peaks for accurate intonation, and mirror-polish them so bends feel completely frictionless. Rolling the fingerboard edges is a premium lutherie technique where the sharp, right-angle wooden edges of the neck are delicately broken and rounded over by hand. This eliminates that rigid "factory-new" edge and gives the neck a smooth, worn-in comfort that fits naturally in your hand from the first chord.

  • Yes, you are highly encouraged to drop off your absolute favorite brand and exact gauge of strings with your instrument so the action can be set up perfectly to match its physical tension. If you don't have a preference or a pack on hand, I can provide standard acoustic or electric string packages for a minor baseline material fee.
